IT Voter Registration
Here comes the third video clip (in English) on IT voter registration! With support from members of the IT industry and a number of social celebrities, we have produced a series of video clips on IT voter registration. Enjoy and please share them with your friends and colleagues.

The Legislative Council is an important channel for monitoring the work of the Government. To cast your vote for the IT constituency in the coming election on 7 September 2008, I urge you to register as IT voter before 16 May. For further information on voter registration, please visit our thematic website (http://www.sinchungkai.org.hk/ITvoter).
GovWiFi
On 27 March, Government Wi-Fi Programme (GovWiFi) officially launched. Currently, free Wi-Fi service is offered at 30 Government premises. By mid 2009, the number of Government premises offering free Wi-Fi services will increase to 350.
Going wireless is a trend happening around the world. With a pervasive wireless network, innovative applications can be introduced. Location-based service, for example, make use of several Wi-Fi hotspots to track down a Wi-Fi device with algorithm approaches. In urban area, such a technology can be even more accurate than GPS.
Although the OFTA has revised its policy on application for installing Wi-Fi devices in Government facilities last year, a wireless network operator recently has expressed its difficulty of getting power supply in installing Wi-Fi devices on Government lamp posts to me. While GovWiFi is a good head start and there are increasing number of Wi-Fi hotspots in places like shopping malls and convenience shops, such a distribution will still be too scattered. To establish a pervasive wireless network, I urge the Government to further coordinate various departments to facilitate installation of Wi-Fi devices in public facilities.
If you have any comments on IT voter registration and GovWiFi, please do share your view by dropping me a few lines at cksin@sinchungkai.org.hk.
