Cyberport

It has been about 6 years after the government annouced the Cyberport Project. The latest issue of Cyberport should have been the take-up rate of cyberport. The secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology published two articles in the newspaper last week and created another wave of discussion.

The discussion of this morning meeting focused on why there was not any tender about the Cyberport project in 1999. The secretary tabled more 100 pages of information to the panel. However, this failed to alleviate the queries of the general public.

As representative of the Information Technology, I supported the expenditure of the cyberport infrastructure of the cyberport, that amounted to 1.1 billion. However, I did queried why the government did not go for a tender in 1999.

6 years after, the public went back to the starting pointing and challenged if the governmet violated the government's normal practice.

I hope more effort and energy should be diverted to enhance the viability of the already built Cyberport.
